Ⅳ Disposal of Japanese Abandoned Chemical Weapons(ACW)in China

China continued to facilitate and assist the Japanese government in JACW disposal based on the CWC and decisions of its Executive Council, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Japan on the Destruction of Japanese Abandoned Chemical Weapons in China signed in July 1999 and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Japan on the Destruction of Japanese Abandoned Chemical Weapons in China after April 29,2012 signed in April 2012.

As for the destruction of JACW, in 2015, China supervised and assisted Japan to continue the destruction of JACW in Harbaling and mobile destruction of JACW in Wuhan and Shijiazhuang with a total of 1,690 pieces of JACW destructed, of which 938 were in Harbaling,609 in Shijiazhuang and 143 in Wuhan.

As for the excavation, recovery and verification of JACW, in 2015, China supervised and assisted Japan in 13 projects of excavation, recovery and verification of suspected JACW newly discovered or stored in Taiyuan, Dunhua, Huichun, Jiamusi, Shangzhi, Ningan, Feicheng, Shenyang and Wuhan, during which a total of 1,808 pieces of JACW were verified and recovered.
