Abstract
Based on the multi-role and dual positioning of overseas Chinese in Chinese culture communication, this book combines the macro and micro, historical and realistic perspectives, and systematically studies the relevance and interactivity of the Chinese Associations as one of the three pillars of overseas Chinese society, and explores the mechanism of overseas Chinese in expanding the influence of Chinese culture, enhancing China's soft power, and helping the Chinese dream.
The book has five chapters. The first chapter reveals the research purport, the consciousness of the problem, the background of academic history, the research object, the research method and the key concept. The second chapter systematically sorts out the historical development of the Chinese Associations and the realistic classification of the academic circles. The former points out that the historical development of the Chinese associations has experienced three stages of the Chinese associations' innovation, localization and Re-Sinicization so far. The latter, in the case of western scholars, overseas Chinese scholars, Chinese scholars, and the Chinese scholars of the Chinese associations, have been able to make a book about the Chinese associations'classifieds. In the third chapter, based on the theory of the method of communication, the paper makes an empirical study on the specific mechanism of the Chinese culture by the geographical Chinese associations, the ethnic Chinese associations, the occupational Chinese associations, the religious Chinese associations, the cultural Chinese association and the new Chinese immigrant associations, and reveals the different characteristics of Chinese culture and the“harmony in diversity”style of the Chinese culture. In chapter 4, on the basis of the study on the dissemination of Chinese cultural mechanism by various Chinese associations, the author further explores the common purport of Chinese culture of various kinds of Chinese society, and points out that in the historical process of the localization of overseas Chinese in the 1950s, the overseas Chinese identity has made a significant change, and the overseas Chinese still retain and inherit the recognition of Chinese culture while establishing the national identity of each other in the country of residence, and construct the identity of the“ethnic Chinese”of the countries. Therefore, from the perspective of overseas Chinese transnationalism, the social function of overseas Chinese associations spreading Chinese cultural activities can be seen, so it is fair to say that the construction of transnational Chinese people is their common purpose. On this basis, chapter five discusses the Chinese cultural activities of overseas Chinese society with the above common purpose and the value of helping the Chinese dream. In this book, the overseas Chinese associations constructs transnational Chinese people by spreading the Chinese culture, which is the world cultural engineering that is jointly built and shared by Chinese cultural values, and according to the“differential pattern”of Chinese cultural values, we can deduce the concentric circles of Chinese cultural values. In other words, the core goal of Chinese cultural communication lies in the promotion of Chinese cultural values and the soft power of Chinese culture, while the promotion of Chinese cultural soft power is conducive to the gradual realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Therefore, the Chinese associations have spread the social activities of the Chinese culture, and it has an power to carry out public diplomacy and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
