A Kind Act

James and Ali like to play football. Football is their favouritefavourite adj.特别喜爱的 game. They play in the field near their school. They can walk there.

James then runs to the lady's house. The old man is lyinglie v.躺;平躺 on the floor.

James helps her to get the old man up to his feet.

Ali's father is at the gate. He comes into the house to help the lady and James. They managemanage v.完成(困难的事) to carry the old man to the car. Then, Ali's father drivesdrive v.驾驶;开车 quickly to the hospital.

The car reaches the hospital in ten minutes. The hospital attendantsattendant n.护理者 are waiting with a stretcherstretcher n.担架. They carry the old man into the hospital.

Ali's father, Ali and James wait downstairsdownstairs adv.在楼下;往楼下. A while later, the lady comes downstairs. She thanks them for helping her.

Ali's father replies, “We are happy to help. I am Azman. This is my son, Ali, and his friend, James.”

The lady says, “And I am Doris Tan.”She shakesshake v.握手 their hands.

She then addsadd v.补充说, “I really must thank you all for your kind act. You help me and my father a lot.”

Ali's father asks Doris, “Do you need me to sendsend v.送 you back to your house.”

The lady says, “Thank you so much.”

When the car reaches her gate, she gets down from the car.

She says, “I will phone you to tell you about my father.”

Ali and James can see she is feelingfeel v.觉得;感到 better now. They are happy to help her.

Their parents teach them to help people.

They always say, “We will try totry to设法;尽力 help people.” This time, they help the lady and her father.

That night, Ali's father tells Ali's mother about the old man. Ali's mother is happy Ali is quick in asking his father to help the lady. She always teaches her children to help others.

They are happy to hear the old man is recoveringrecover v.康复;痊愈. An hour later, they are enjoying their dinner at the café.
