Nihonbashi was once the prosperous commercial center during the Edo period, while facing such problems nowadays: Highline makes along-river space negative. Giant office buildings force aborigines to leave. New centers leave the old center abandoned. The dense area provides few vacant lands.
The design tries to turn the along-river space into a featured public backyard to relax, regaining its popularity. Then office, residence and commercial facilities are carefully introduced, and promenades created on various levels. Finally lively and beautiful“river lanterns”are designed on former bases on which the demolished highline has stood. It is the urban life. It is the festival celebration.

COMMENTS
The atmosphere in traditional festivals gives an idea. The urban public space is activated by night scenes and inverted image of waterfront buildings in the river, highlighting the romance, intelligence and ingenuity under the gentle breeze.
