Chapter One The Conception of China's Peaceful Development and a Harmonious World

Adherence to the peaceful development and promotion of the building of a harmonious world epitomize the important principles and values of China's diplomacy in a new era, in line with the peace diplomacy that China has been practicing since the founding of P. R. China, and demonstrating the new development of China's guiding diplomatic ideology under the new situation of recent years. With peace and development as the major themes and irreversible trend of our time, the accelerating economic globalization and increasingly evident multi-polarization of international political pattern constitute the general international circumstances for China's peaceful development and its construction of a harmonious world; and a solid foundation for these two grand tasks are laid by China's increasing economic development, everenhanced comprehensive national strength, greatly improved international status, extended international impact, and gradually ameliorated international circumstances, especially neighboring circumstances.

The new strategic conception of peaceful development and a harmonious world has undergone a process of gradual improvement.
