1. the first-past-the-post system: a first-past-the-post election is one that is won by the candidate with more votes than any other (s).
2. structure of the state: the National People's Congress, the State Council, the Local People's Congress, Local People's Governments, the People's Courts, and the People's Procuratorates.
3. People's Liberation Army: the principal body of China's armed forces, which is made up of the reserve force and the country's standing army which consists of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Second Artillery Force.
4. Four Cardinal Principles: the principle of upholding the socialist path, upholding the people's democratic dictatorship, upholding the leadership of the CPC and upholding Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought.
