6 Piping Fabrication
6.1 Pipe Fabrication
6.1.1 Identifications shall be transferred prior to cutting of pipes.Steel stamps shall not be used for low temperature steel pipes,stainless steel pipes and non-ferrous metal pipes.For titanium and titanium alloy,zirconium and zirconium alloy,markers containing halogen or halide materials shall not be used.
Method:visual examination.
6.1.2 When flame or plasma arc cutting is used,burrs shall be grinded off and oxide layer shall be removed.
Method:visual examination.
6.1.3 Machine cutting shall be used for titanium and titanium alloy pipes,zirconium and zirconium alloy pipes,nickel and nickel alloy pipes and metal cladded pipes.Machine cutting or plasma arc cutting should be used for stainless steel pipes and other non-ferrous metal pipes.Dedicated discs shall be used for grinding machine to cut or grind stainless steel pipes,titanium pipes,zirconium pipes and alloy pipes.
Method:in-process examination.
6.1.4 Steel saw or machine cutting should be used for galvanized steel pipes.
Method:in-process examination
6.1.5 Quality of pipe cutting(Figure 6.1.5)shall comply with the following requirements,and pipe grooving shall confirm to Article 7.2.1 of this code.
1 Cutting surface shall be flat without any defects such as cracks,cold-lap,burrs,irregularity,necking,slag,oxides and iron chips;
2 Cutting end deviation shall be 1% of outside diameter of pipe and shall not exceed 3mm.
Method:visual examination and measurements checking.
