Foreword

In accordance with provisions of 2011 Document for Developing and Revising Standards and Codes on Project Construction（JianBiao〔2011〕No.17）issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development，this Code as the revision of Design Code for Small Hydropower Stations GB 50071-2002，is revised by Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design General Institute of Ministry of Water Resources and Sichuan Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Reconnaissance and Design，together with other concerned organizations.

This Code is comprised of 18 chapters，mainly including general provisions，hydrology，engineering geological investigation，computation of water and hydropower，layout of project and hydraulic structures，hydraulic machinery，heating and ventilation，electrical system，hydromechanical structures，fire protection，construction planning，land requisition and resettlement，environmental protection，soil and water conservation，project management，energy conservation，labor safety and industrial sanitation，cost estimation of project，and economic evaluation，etc.

Revisions made to the previous edition mainly include:

1.The application scope of the code is revised to the design of hydropower stations with installed capacities of 0.5-50MW.

2.Three chapters are added，i.e.soil and water conservation，energy conservation，and labor safety and industrial sanitation.

3.Design provisions are partly revised to make it more applicable to the present situation，following advancement of China in technology and design of small hydropower stations in the last 10 years and satisfying the requirements of current national and industrial policies and regulations.

The articles in boldface in this code are compulsory provisions and must be enforced strictly.
