Exposure learning
Exposure learning is all about asking. The quickest and most effective way to learn through other people is to simply ask them questions like, "Why are you doing this?" and "How did you do this?"
Do you remember when we talked about impostor syndrome in the first chapter of this book? Impostor syndrome is one of the biggest barriers to exposure learning because if you are pretending that you know something already, then other people are unlikely to impart and share their knowledge with you.
However, if you openly say you don't know and ask for help, and you actively choose to listen to their answers, then it's more likely that you will learn from what they have to say. As a new manager, you should especially not be afraid to ask lots of questions. What's important here is to remember to do so respectfully and appropriately.
