Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol

AWS will assign your instances IP addresses by default. An address to help it to resolve DNS will also be provided. These are supplied, along with any other necessary configuration items, by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service. Amazon permits you to customize these settings too.
