Scaling in

Scaling in refers to the process of removing the existing hardware in terms of existing servers and capacity. This typically involves removing existing servers, de-allocating their IP addresses, and removing them from the existing load balancer configuration such that traffic cannot be routed to them. In the same way as scaling out, scaling in can be automatic or manual.
