Class C addresses

In class C, the first three octets (/24 prefix) are used to represent the network portion, and the remaining octet is used to represent host addresses. It is obvious that in class C, the number of networks is noticeably bigger than the number of hosts per network. For that reason, this class is designed to support mostly small organizations that prefer to have a big number of networks and a small number of hosts per network. The following table provides information about class C:
