送赵辉杰赴兰州，1958

把手送君西北去，

莫问边城晴或雨，

祁连山下过春风，

休犹豫，

请记取，

塞上也能飘柳絮。

人世悠悠长几许，

往事只当初写序，

黄河润笔著新篇，

惊人语，

千万句，

留待他年杯酒叙。

Hands shaking, I send you northwest yonder,

Never mind rain or sun on the border.

When spring blows across Qilian Mountain,

Hesitate never,

But remember,

Catkins will as well fl y on the frontier.

Long is our journey on the human world hither,

Past events but a preface to a new chapter.

Write with a pen drenched in the Yellow River,

Many a thriller,

Large in number,

Reserve them for talks over wine years later.

Zhao Huijie was a schoolmate of Li Yining during his study at Yali Middle School. After finishing his master's degree in history at Peking University in 1958, Zhao was allotted to Lanzhou University as a teacher.
