Preface Two Drawing Wisdom from the World to Propel the Development of the Cultural Industries in Macao

One of the missions of the Chinese Cultural Exchange Association，founded in 2005，is “to promote the Chinese culture”. In order to promote cultural undertakings and cultural industrialization，the Association has organized various types of events. The Association hosted the Cross-strait Four Regions Cultural Industries Forum in 2006，organized “Macao Songs” series of events in 2008 and 2009，supported the local movie Diago adapted from a local writer’s novel in 2009，supported the original musical Myth of Fox in 2012，and supported the film production of the movie Return of the Cuckoo in 2014. These serve as witness of the Association’s tireless effort in promoting Macao cultural industries.

Today Macao’s cultural industries are still in the infancy. In order to extensively absorb the views of experts and scholars for the advancement of Macao cultural industries，the Association co-organized the first “Forum on Cultural Industries （Macao）” in May 2015，with the Institute for Cultural Industries，Peking University. Experts and scholars from the Chinese Mainland，Taiwan，South Korea，the UK and Spain as well as the United Nations commissioners were invited to give speeches，participate in study tours，and advice on cultural industries in Macao. Guests at the meeting pointed out that Macao should make better use of its existing cultural resources，such as distinctive urban setting. Macao was advised to start new branding in the old communities，then introduces the brands to tourists，adding creativity in tourist attractions and changing tourists’ impression of Macao.By gradually promoting its local brands to Southeast Asia initially，the rest of the world should be the ultimate goal.

Regional Synergy and Platform Innovation-2015 Macao Cultural Industry Report is the first systematic compilation on the cultural industries in Macao.

It collects brilliant speeches in the Forum on Cultural Industries （Macao），special report Suggestions on Industrial Positioning and Program of Action for Macao Cultural Industry by Committee of Cultural Industries of the Macao SAR Government，2014 Work Report of Cultural Industries Fund by Cultural Industries Fund of the Macao SAR Government，as well as academic analysis of cultural industries by scholars.

Thanks to all the support，Regional Synergy and Platform Innovation-2015 Macao Cultural Industry Report was successfully published. I am grateful to the Institute for Cultural Industries，Peking University for inviting many experts from home and abroad to the Forum；further more，for their dedicated work on the editing and coordination of the publication. I am truly thankful to Committee of Cultural Industries of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Cultural Industries Fund for their support and assistance.
