Abstract

The frequent eruption of animal derived food safety incidents in China, has become a major social problem. According to the risk society theory of Germany sociologist Ulrich Beck and British sociologist Anthony Giddens, this paper takes the animal derived food safety as the example, and puts forward the major points as follows:

(1)Animal derived food safety problems in our country arose under the background of globalization. We introduced the breeding mode of intensive, scale, factory farming in developed country entirely, which caused new problems that the spread of livestock animals and aquatic animal disease. we imported an enormous range of livestock and aquatic animal species from abroad, which caused new animal diseases and infectious diseases. We introduced some breeding technologies from abroad, which also caused food safety risks

(2)The progress of science and technology not only enriched animal derived foods, but also affected the animal derived food safety. A large number of veterinary medicines(including forbidden veterinary medicines)and feed additives, are used to promote animal growth as soon as possible, to prevent and cure animal diseases, and to prevent the animal death, which caused animal derived food safety risks.

(3)The irresponsibility of government departments to the animal derived food safety is: firstly, permitting the use of a variety of toxic and harmful veterinary medicines and feed additives; secondly, permitting the content of antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, heavy metal in animal derived food much higher than that in developed countries; thirdly, animal derived foods which containing food safety risk appear on the market without quality tests.

(4)This paper puts forward the idea of animal food safety risk regulation system: firstly, giving up the breeding mode of intensive, scale, factory farming, and advocating animal welfare and pollution-free, organic farming mode, to reduce the veterinary medicines and feed additives; secondly, prohibiting and restricting toxic side effects of veterinary medcines and feed additives; thirdly, establishing the whole-process monitoring mode from the breeding farm to the dinner table, restraining poisonous and harmful substance by law and high-tech detection method, and giving serious punishment to those who cause food safety issues.
